FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Who can play FREEDOM TENNIS?
Anyone over the age of nineteen can play FREEDOM TENNIS.
2. Will I have to travel far?
No. All matches are to be played on courts within Greenville County.
3. When can I play FREEDOM TENNIS?
You can register to play each season: Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.
4. How much does it cost to play?
The price of FREEDOM TENNIS is $20 per person per category.
5. How do I register to play?
If you have not played for the league before, click on the NEW MEMBER SIGNUP menu button, fill out the profile form and create you online account.
When registration opens for a new season, you will be notified by email and you can register to play that season through the SEASON REGISTRATION menu option. Please verify your personal information, especially phone and email, and select the division(s) in which you would like to play. You can pay online with a debit or credit card, or with PayPal. Alternately, you will have the option of paying through Zelle or Venmo separately.
6. On what tennis courts will I play?
Location of the match will be at the “Home” team’s choice. Courts may be public (i.e.: city or county courts), or private (i.e.: subdivision or club courts). If there are any fees associated with court use the home team will be responsible for the fees.
7. At what level should I sign up?
We will place you based on your USTA/ NTRP Rating, play history, and scheduling needs. If you are not rated and need help in determining your level, see the NTRP Rating System.
8. For Doubles, does my partner have
to have the same rating as me?
No. This is a flexible tennis league. You may play with a partner with a different rating. We recommend that you and your partner be no more than 1.0 apart in NTRP ratings. For competitive placement, we will average the two partners’ ratings and place similar ratings in the same division.
9. What if, after I sign up for a
season, my partner or I cannot play?
Substitutions are not allowed for Singles. If you cannot play for the remainder of the season, you will need to find a permanent replacement. HOWEVER, substitutes are allowed for Doubles. If a doubles player cannot complete the remainder of a season, finding a permanent replacement is recommended.
10. How many matches will I play?
Currently, we are scheduling 5-7 matches per league season.
11. Can I play in multiple categories?
A player may sign up for up to three categories per season, but a player may not play in more than one division in a category without permission of the league coordinator.
